Gray Tree is a painting created by Piet Mondrian. This painting was made in 1911 using oil on canvas on a 78.5 x 107.5cm board. It is presently exhibited at Gemeentemuseum Den Haag.
I really love Grey Tree too, and enjoy Mondrian's early works as much as his later abstract stuff, for which he is best known. The tree series actually marked his passing between the two styles, but i think he should be better respected for these early works than he is. Paul, do you like his later style too? Thanks for the post.
Hi, having been 'torpedoed' at the art school I went to with Bauhaus, Mondriaan, Kadinsky etc,
I often thought Mondrian must have missed his days when his name still was spelled MondriAAn, as his Dutch name required.
I do admire etc all his work but I am a painter, I like brushes and paints, Mondrian had the cleanest studio in New York with a single tulip in a vase.
How sad.
